Assignment 2

In Mary Shelley's melancholy novel, Frankenstein;there 3 points in Frankensteins life that shows how keeping secrets and going against nature can lead to certain demise and how imperfect our actions will always be.
Frankenstein's obsession began with his curiosity in the mysteries of the natural philosophy, "From this day natural philosophy, and particularly chemistry... became nearly my sole occupation."(Shelley 49). Frankenstein begins to concentrate solely on his studies, completely ignoring daily activities with friends, family, became pale, lonely and obsessed. His rejection to these things contribute his path to demise by not only hurting him physically and mentally, but through emotions which is shown in his work.
The second point in Frankensteins path to demise was creating his monster, "...but now that I had finished, the beauty of the dream vanished, and breathless horror and disgust filled my heart."(Shelley 59). Frankensteins arduous and neglectful plunge into his studies and creation finally came to an end but to a vile result. His creation was horrific to his eyes and regretted it; the creations appearance reflecting it's masters loneliness and neglecting state during its creation.

Finally, Frankensteins ultimate demise was not his death as he thought (the monster swore revenge), but "As I heard it, the whole truth rushed into my mind... She was there lifeless and inanimate, thrown across her bed..."(Shelley 241). The monster swore revenge, but not kill him, but what Frankenstein loved the most. The monsters intentions were to show his creator how he feels. Frankensteins hard work and devotion ends with his family dying in the hands of his creation.

The meaning of this work shows how many should be careful when probing against the laws of nature, involving themselves in breaking rules that should never be broken especially since humans are so imperfect that their creations reflect that.
